Ukiyo X
Literally “the floating world”. Living in the moment, detached from the bothers of life.
Ukiyo X is the first table design in our collection with an oval table top. The name refers to a Japanese term that translates to ‘floating world’.
Like its predecessors Otoko and Josei, the design for Ukiyo is based on Japanese temples and shrines. This reference can be seen when the table is viewed at top height, where the top appears to float above the substructure.
Price starting at € 6.570,- ex vat.

Solid wood
Wood is a beautifully lively natural product. Differences in colour, drawing and structure give wood character. It is a lively and warm material that becomes more beautiful with age. Our tables are finished with a very high quality two-component lacquer.
TYPE OF WOOD
Natural white oak
Carbon oak
Walnut
General
Solid wood ‘warps’. This means humidity and temperature can change the size and shape of the material. ‘Warping’ risks can be reduced if the room temperature remains between 15°C and 24°C and humidity remains between 45% and 60%. So do not place your table too close to a heat source (stove, fireplace, radiator, etc.).
Light and air can cause discolouration in wood. Excessive discolouration can mainly be attributed to strong sunlight. Thus it is best to place your table so that it is not exposed to too much sunlight.
Our tables are finished with a very strong high-quality matt lacquer. However, there are certain things you can do yourself to keep your table beautiful.
When your table has just been varnished, it will take 2 weeks until it is fully cured. So in the first period, avoid heavy loads, heat and excess moisture.
Important tips for wooden products with a matt lacquered finish:
- For daily maintenance, the table can simply be wiped with a soft, dry cloth
- Make sure that spilled liquids are cleaned immediately using a soft, clean and slightly moist cloth
- Do not use caustic products
- Use a coaster to prevent water rings. It is also recommended to use coasters for hot objects, best to always use a placemat or tablecloth to avoid scratches and stains
- Prevent scratching of abrasive surfaces by using felt pads
- It is better not to use abrasives, rough sponges or cleaning equipment, as this will scratch the table top.
Although lacquer is more resistant to moisture than oil, you can expect stains and circles if water or liquid remains on for a long time. Especially moisture that cannot evaporate because it is covered or locked up, will eventually affect the lacquer. So be careful with wet cloths, cups, vases or dishes.
About the design of
Ukiyo X
UKIYO X was designed by Francine Broos Interior Architects. At the core of their design philosophy is the pursuit of harmony, elegance and the subtle art of creating an experience that transcends the ordinary. This vision is beautifully expressed in our new table, aptly named UKIYO.
Historically speaking, it is about the fleeting beauty of life, a fleeting but enchanting existence. Our Ukiyo table captures this essence through its innovative design, in which the table top appears to float gracefully above the legs.
The straight lines of the substructure and the subtle rounded oval top that lies in the round, tapered legs create a strong contrast. The connection of the substructure with the legs ensures that these shapes merge into a subtle whole.
Even though this table is made of solid wood, the design creates an illusion of weightlessness. The oval shape of the tabletop in combination with the slender, tapered legs enhance the airiness of this design. A centrepiece that is both functional and an artistic statement.
